For this project, Kellogg’s requested we develop concepts for their Sweets & Snacks Trade Show booth. The target audience was retailers who sell snacks for immediate consumption. The client asked us to explore concepts using the logos, packaging, and/or graphics from the packages, using bright, bold colors and brand focused tonality that had been used on past booth designs. The client also requested we avoid food imagery and focus on the packaging.

Our first round of designs was very packaging-focused, wanting to follow the guidelines the client gave, but there were so many new products the client wanted to include, that the designs were too busy and nothing was standing out in the designs. I suggested we try one concept with food imagery. We finally decided to show two concepts with packaging imagery, and one with food imagery.

The clients loved the food concept, and actually chose it for the booth, with some minor tweaks like making the Kellogg’s logo more prominent and adding in patterns used in other booths into the backgrounds.

We were also asked to develop product shelves to showcase the new products. The client wanted to keep the same approach as previous shelves, which have won awards, so I picked up those files and worked from there.

Below is a sketch of how our team recommended the shelves to look, as well as the two final designs that were approved by the client. The previous shelves were laid out in a way that the design was covered by the products, so I reformatted them to better fill the space. We also purchased fake food cues for the products, including jalapeños, bacon, cheese, and banana slices.
